  • Mapping 40 years of malaria treatment resistance

    Novartis, Global Health Division · 2019–2020

    As part of a clinical trial team for an innovative malaria treatment, I introduced geospatial data analysis to Novartis’ Global Drug Development department, analyzed gene mutations relevant to malaria treatment, and produced hundreds of maps spanning over 40 years of treatment-resistance data.

  • Gaps in drug development for neglected diseases

    Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi) · 2023

    Extracted and analyzed data from the regulatory authorities of more than 30 countries and systematically coded disease data to identify where pharmaceutical R&D falls short of the global disease burden, informing strategic recommendations for future research investments.

  • Desertification, land degradation, drought, and health

    An extensive literature review on the connections between desertification, land degradation, drought, and health for the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).

  • Climate and diarrhea in sub-Saharan Africa

    Guided PhD students in conducting systematic literature reviews on climate-sensitive factors and diarrhea in sub-Saharan Africa, with strategies for comprehensive data collection and analysis.

From December 2022 to September 2025, I worked as an independent contractor through Macfadden Consulting, supporting clients including DNDi, UNDP, and WASTE as a health researcher and science communicator.

      Conducted an extensive literature review on the connections between desertification, land degradation, drought, and health for the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification.

      Researched the mismatch between pharmaceutical R&D and global disease burden, focusing on neglected diseases, using regulatory data from more than 30 countries to identify gaps in drug development.

      Researched how shifting climate patterns could alter the distribution and burden of neglected diseases in vulnerable regions, and assessed future therapeutic priorities to guide DNDi’s research and policy agenda.

      Conducted a systematic literature review on the future impact of climate change on health and potential implications for new therapeutic priorities in sub-Saharan Africa. Novartis supported my master’s research.

      Used geospatial analyses and visualizations with a use case in the value chain. Advised the digital team on using geospatial capabilities for the Global Health Insights Center, with a focus on patient reach in the supply chain, and mapped Global Health teams’ operational processes using the Nimbus system.

      Co-founded the European MEDLIFE student chapter at Leiden University College. Designed promotional materials, coordinated fundraising and educational events on development, global health, and poverty, and raised €23,000 from a €200 budget.
