About
I’m a PhD student in Population Health at Northeastern University, where I study environmental epidemiology. I’m advised by Dr. Phil Brown (opens in a new tab) and am part of Dr. Julia Varshavsky (opens in a new tab)’s Epidemiology and Toxicology Lab (opens in a new tab).
I came to this field through climate and global health. During my master’s at the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute, I studied how climate change is projected to affect health across sub-Saharan Africa. Since then, as an independent contractor, I’ve researched gaps in drug development for neglected diseases with the Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative and reviewed how land degradation and drought affect health for UNDP, among other projects. The work varied, but one question kept coming back: how do environmental conditions turn into unequal health outcomes? That question is what drives my research now.
I also love building practical tools that make evidence easier to use. With Ryan Dalforno, I created the Environmental Health Policy Engagement Database (opens in a new tab) for the Policy Committee of the International Society for Environmental Epidemiology (ISEE) North America Chapter. It’s a searchable collection of guides, legal resources, and advocacy tools for anyone working to turn environmental health science into policy and action in the U.S.
